SEITAI

Seitai is a Japanese therapy baised on the principles of Acupuncture, but using Acupressure with fingers and thumbs and sometimes elbows to stimulate the Acupoints, (Tsubo) instead of needles. This, combined with realigning the spine, by adjusting the vertebrae back into their correct position, gives a very complete treatment designed to bring the body back into its natural balance.

SEITAI can help with all sorts of pain, HEAD ACHES, MIGRAINES, NECK STIFFNESS, SHOULDER / ELBOW / HAND PAIN, BACK ACHE, LUMBAGO, HIP PAIN, KNEE PROBLEMS, SCIATICA.

The word setai means to "put the body in order”. In western terms it could be regarded as the homeostatic ability of the body to maintain health. The way this is achieved is through the individual strength and function of the organs and Musco skeletal System. In the east, and now more so in the west, the strength and interactions of the body’s organs are considered a major contributor to the maintenance of dynamic health.

Seitai works on the principle that lesions, which most commonly develop along the spine, force the body to compensate for the imbalance that has arisen because of it. This its the soft tissue under prolonged stress which in turn causes pain and inflammation in the affected area and disrupts the flow of chi. The pain may ease after some time encouraging us to feel cured, but the damage is still there. In fact the chronic state of the affected tissue grows continually deeper over time putting more stress on the affected area.

Seitai concentrates on restoring the circulation of chi (energy) and blood to the area. Problems manifest within the body’s musclo-skeletal system and can be corrected by means of pressure on the acupuncture points or Tsubo as they are known in Japan.

The techniques employed are a combination pf acupressure stimulation, soft tissue massage and adjustments to the spine designed to bring the body back to a state of harmony and equilibrium or SEITAI.

A lot of people only discover Seitai because they are in pain (as I did) even if you have no injuries a Seitai massage will work wonders for energy levels, relaxation and internal disturbance.

Tai Chi Chaun

(pronounced Tie-Shee-Shwaan) Tai Chi is a Chinese internal martial art. This means it uses chi (relaxed power) as opposed to external physical strength. To feel chi, and therefore understand how to use it, a person must be relaxed, soft and focused. This is the main reason people learn Tai Chi in the west; to understand how to relax their minds and bodies.

Suitable for everyone, especially people recovering from illness or with injuries, Colin has taught local school children and teachers and holds regular weekly daytime and evening classes in Burnham. Colin teaches both the Yang Short Form (24 step) and the Chen Long Form (68 step). Call for class details or to enquire about private lessons for individuals and groups.

AIKIDO

AIKIDO (pronounced Eye-key-Doh) A Japanese martial art developed by Morihei Uyeshiba early last century, with movements evolved from the ancient art of the Samurai. Relaxation and softness is fundamental to practicing Aikido. See videos of Aikido below on this page to illustrate. Aikido is a very powerful and effective martial art, but uses an “inner strength” (KI) rather than muscular strength. This can be learnt by any one so it is ideal for ladies, children (over the age of 8) and men. You do not require great strength to be able to do Aikido. There are throwing techniques involved in Aikido, which means learning to break fall, so anyone considering Aikido should not have any spinal problems If you do have any structural problems please refer to the SEITAI section of this site.

THE BRYAAR HOUSE CLINIC

ABOUT US

Established in 1994 by Colin Bond, Bryaar Houseprovides therapeutic support primarily using osteomyology. My discipline is Seitai which is all about putting the body back in order. I learned this through my own personal experience where I had a motorbike accident and needed help to put myself together again. I was amazed by the results, so much so that I decided to become a practitioner. Since then I have helped many people to 'put themselves back in order'. I also encourage people to learn Tai Chi to maintain a healthy body mind and run regular local sessions both private public. I am also a musician and play locally with my band, Dacoda, you can learn more about Dacoda on facebook. I also collaborate with Dave Graham (Dacoda's Bass player) and we write our own songs under the name ThePowndSownd. You can hear more on our Soundcloud or ReverbNation pages.
